On July 31, the concession of the Marina Botafoch Ibiza ended. There were seven companies that submitted to the contest called by the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) to manage the marina.

Finally, the temporary concession was awarded to the Mallorcan company Ocibar, SA, who will be in charge as of August 1 of carrying out the management for a period of two years, extendable for one more, while the bases for the definitive awarding will be prepared. a longer duration. This assignment is accompanied by the change of trade name from Marina Botafoch Ibiza to Botafoc Ibiza.

Both the outgoing company, Puerto Deportivo Botafoch, SL, and the incoming Ocibar, SA, have been holding meetings for weeks to communicate the details of the management of the port, as well as to discuss issues that have worried workers, moorists and tenants of commercial premises , who have been aware of the changes produced by the transfer as well as its consequences during the transfer of assignment.

Although these groups have criticized this assignment for being carried out in the middle of the season and have shown their fear of suffering damages arising from said change, the company Ocibar, S.A. He has shown his interest in continuing with the continuity of these groups, in which they are involved around 60 businesses and 432 moorings spread over 5 swamps.

The new company has started its management through port reviews, together with the representatives of the Port Authority, to review the facilities, equipment and infrastructure that make up the marina.

In addition, he has informed the moorists and the tenants of commercial premises the necessary documentation that they must provide to continue leasing their mooring or premises. This continuity will be carried out with new economic conditions, which consist of reducing the quota to the berths of smaller vessels and increasing the quota for larger vessels. Those who demonstrate that they are up to date with payment, of at least 6 months, will have preference in the continuation of the lease.
